Sessions embodies a deep commitment in giving back to the communities it is fortunate enough to be a part of. The company participates in a variety of special programs and events and contributes to a variety of organizations to achieve its mission of trying to make a positive difference. If you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch everything
Boarding 4 Breast Cancer and Fight For the Cure
Sessions represents the fun, but also the deep social involvement that is part of the action sports lifestyle. Boarding 4 Breast Cancer is an annual event that allows riders to participate in the sport they love for a very good cause. Sessions' participation highlights the company's commitment to women in the sport of snowboarding. In Snow 07, Sessions will be donating a portion of profits from selected women's styles to support efforts to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Awareness and early detection are key in the fight against breast cancer, so Sessions, along with Boarding 4 Breast Cancer and Fight For the Cure, encourages all women to have regular mammograms and perform self-examinations.
Snowboard Outreach Society
Sessions being a high quality technical outerwear brand, will enhance the Snowboard Outreach Society (SOS) program through a special make-up of SOS jackets. SOS is a program that allows underprivileged youth to come to Vail, CO and learn how to snowboard by providing them with five days of lessons, equipment rental, clothing, and lift tickets. SOS's mission is To build character in at-risk and underprivileged youth and to enhance decision-making for healthy and successful life experiences. Their vision and goals are to improve the quality of youth by making a positive impression to instill hope and have them grow up honest and responsible. Sessions is acknowledging and supporting their efforts. Each program that SOS puts on is built around five key values: courage, compassion, discipline, integrity, and wisdom. Each day has a different value that will effect their everyday decisions. Snowboarding's cool factor creates a fast learning curve that motivates young people to get off the couch and go outside. SOS has a fundamental program called Learn To Ride (LTR), which is an outdoor mountain adventure. These experiences are made to boost self-confidence and encourage comfortable interactions with others. This jacket represents two significances-finishing a program that will provide a foundation for the emotional and inner development of a child and also allow them warmth and coverage from the winter elements when they go home. Bottom line is not all underprivileged kids have jackets and they should, says President Cindi Busenhart.
Tim Brauch Memorial Skatepark Fund
In honor of Este rider Tim Brauch, who passed away from a heart condition in 1999, Sessions founded the Tim Brauch Memorial Fund. Money raised in Tim's name was used to construct the Scotts Valley Skate Park in Memory of Tim Brauch. Each year, a contest is held at the park to honor his memory. Further money collected through the fund will be used to help finance the building of skate parks in other communities. In addition, the fund will be used for scholarships and additional contests in Tim's memory.
American Red Cross
In a world that is often hazardous, the Red Cross provides vital services to those faced with the direst circumstances. The organization's commitment to helping communities, responding effectively to emergencies and providing for those in need is a natural fit for Sessions. In support of the American Red Cross, Sessions has participated in numerous fundraisers, donating product and funds, and has had its president, Cindi Busenhart, serve on the Board of Directors for the organization's Santa Cruz chapter.
